Drug dealer caught in hotel

Following this arrest, we arepositive that more arrests are yet to follow.

A 31-year-old man was caught red handed with 18 mandrax tablets in his possession at the Palm Tree hotel in Westonaria on 14 September.

It is believed that the police acted on a tip-off from a man believed to be one of his customers.

According to Westonaria SAPS spokesperson Constable Thembi Masango, having received the tip-off, police officers were swift in their operation and closed in on the man at the hotel.

“Upon arrival, the police managed to spot the suspect in question.

“They carried out a search on him and he was found with 18 mandrax tablets,” says Masango.

Each tablet is worth R25 to R50 on the market, bringing the total value to approximately R450 to R900.

She adds that the man was immediately arrested and appeared at the Westonaria Magistrates’ Court on 16 September.

“Following this arrest, we are positive that more arrests are to follow.

“We are more than confident that the man was not dealing alone,” says Masango.
