Randfontein SAPS declare war on illegal liqour outlets

We are facing violent crimes influenced by the liquor trade.

The Randfontein SAPS has declared was against illegal liquor outlets.

Three people were caught and arrested for operating illegal shebeens in and around Randfontein between 23 August and 2 September.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, despite the figures, the problem is bigger that what it may seem.

“The fact that we arrested three people does not mean that only three people are engaging in such activities.

“It goes without saying that there are more people who are selling alcohol illegally and I can assure you that the long arm of the law will catch up with them.

“What people do not realize is that this has its own dangers in society and dire consequences as well.

“We are facing violent crimes influenced by the liquor trade,” says Ernst.

She adds that the community has been helpful in tipping off the police with regard to such incidents and other crimes in society.

“We appreciate the support that we get from people in different communities.

“They constantly send us tip-offs and that is exactly what we want because they know what is going on in their own communities.

“We will leave no stone unturned when we receive reports from the community,” says Ersnt.
