SAPS reveal alarming drug dealing stats

It goes without saying that there are more drug dealers and drug users roaming the streets of Randfontein.

In a period of just ten days, the Randfontein SAPS have reported that 27 people were caught in possession of drugs in and around Randfontein between 23 August and 2 September.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, this does not even paint a clear picture of how rife drugs are in Randfontein.

“It goes without saying that there are more drug dealers and drug users roaming the streets of Randfontein.

“We are continuously doing our best in eradicating such illegal substances from our communities and we will not rest until we do so.

“People must know that police officers mean business and the long arm of the law will catch up with them eventually,” says Ernst.

It is worth noting that on 6 September, the Herald published a damning article that a Randfontein Police Sergeant was arrested for dealing and being in possession of drugs together with two foreign nationals near the Uncle Harry’s Road House.

The estimated value of the illegal substance was R7000.

The trio were also found to be in possession of a large amount of money which was also confiscated.

“We will even arrest one of our own if such a person is suspected to be involved in illegal activities.

“No one is above the law,” says Ernst.
