Elderly women and children held up in Greenhills house robbery

Two elderly women and two small children were held up in yet another armed Greenhills house robbery.

Two minors aged 10 and 14-years-old were attacked together with their grandmother and their great grandmother during a house robbery in Greenhills on 2 September.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson Captain Appel Ernst, four armed men entered the family’s property and attacked the two minors inside the house.

“The suspects were armed with firearms and closed in on the minors.

“They dragged them to a flatlet inside the yard, where the two elderly women were.

“There they tied them all up,” says Ernst.

She adds that the suspects continued to ransack the house and loaded valuable items into one of the women’s vehicle.

While this happened, the children’s father returned home to find one of the suspects inside the grandmother’s vehicle.

“The father (39) approached the vehicle and was subsequently also held at gunpoint.

“He was forced into the house and bound in the kitchen.

“The suspects loaded the last of the stolen items and fled in the grandmother’s vehicle, a Toyota Etios with the registration number BZ 28 FD GP,” says Ernst.

Fortunately no injuries were sustained.
