To celebrate Casual Day, Correctional Services for the West Rand hosted yet another successful fun run from Uncle Harry's to Krugersdorp Correctional Centre.

To celebrate Casual Day, Correctional Services for the West Rand hosted yet another successful fun run from Uncle Harry’s to Krugersdorp Correctional Centre on 6 September.

According to the communications officer at the Krugersdorp Correctional Centre, Linda Jacobs, the Krugersdorp Correctional Centre annually participates in the national event of Casual Day, which is a project for disabled people.

“This year we decided to go bigger and combine it with a sports day. The day started with a fun run from Uncle Harry’s roadhouse in Randfontein to Krugersdorp Correctional Centre,” says Linda.

The fun run was a huge success and hundreds of community members and other law enforcement officials participated in the event.

“When we arrived at the Correctional Centre in Krugersdorp we all took part in various sporting activities such as an aerobics marathon, netball, soccer 6 aside, volleyball, and tug-of -war,” says Linda.

“The day was grat fun and proved to be a great success.”

She adds that the only costs involved in participating was the buy of the casual day sticker. Everyone who took part in the event had to buy a sticker in order to take part in the event.

During the sporting events at the correctional centre, everyone present was welcome to take part in the ‘bring and braai’ which was also great fun.

Other stakeholders participating in this event included Saps west rand cluster, Mogale city town council, Mogale Traffic Department, President Hyper, Tommy Martin’s car dealers, Standard Bank, The Department of Social Development, The Department of Home Affairs and Bosasa.
