Department of health welcomes ARV nurses

We are happy to have produced such a skilled, competent, caring and productive health care workforce.

The Gauteng Department of Health held a graduation ceremony at the Randfontein Golf Club on 6 September.

This was to honour and certify 270 nurses who are now qualified to administer Anti-Retro Viral (ARV) treatment to patients diagnosed with HIV and Aids.

According to the Department’s spokesperson Simon Zwane, the nurses in question have successfully completed the training course on the management of Retro Viral Treatment

“I’m sure I speak for everyone when I say it has been a tough but fruitful journey.

“We are happy to have produced such a skilled, competent, caring and productive healthcare workforce and we are here to celebrate that,” says Zwane.

He adds that the certified nurses will be placed at various ARV sites in the province to improve services.

According to Zwane, this will ensure that they are able to provide treatment to diagnosed patients more efficiently.
