A 14-year-old school girl was attacked and tied up in her home during a house robbery in Randpoort on 20 August.
The girl had just returned from school and upon entering the house, found in it a state of chaos.
According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson, Captain Appel Ernst, the girl walked towards the main bedroom and came across a man that looked like her father from behind.
“She called him by name and when he turned and faced her, she realised that it was a stranger,” says Ernst.
“She tried to escape but the suspect, together with an accomplice, overpowered her and tied her up before carrying on ransacking the house.”
The suspects managed to flee with numerous items ranging from clothes, shoes and a cellphone.
The girl was discovered tied up in the house when her parents arrived home from work later in the afternoon.
“The girl was traumatised, but luckily did not sustain any injuries,” says Ernst.
