Security guard dies in horrific accident

The bakkie in which the man was traveling overturned.

An accident claimed the life of a security guard from EF Security when he smashed into a Coin cash-in-transit vehicle at the corner of Honda Street and Chevrolet Street in Aureus on 28 August

At the scene the Herald’s found that the bakkie in which the guard was travelling had overturned, leaving him with fatal injuries.

The passenger in the bakkie was in a serious but stable condition and was taken to Robinson Hospital were he was treated for his injuries.

According to officials at the scene, it is believed that the bakkie was travelling on Honda Street and failed to stop at the stop street. He subsequently smashed into the cash-in-transit vehicle travelling on Chevrolet Street.

The driver of the cash-in-transit vehicle managed escape injury.

According to Randfontein Traffic Chief Kenny Mampondo, motorists need kick the habit of ignoring stop signs.

“People need to start taking accidents seriously and understand that they can occur at the blink of an eye.

“They need to be cautious at all times and not take chances because they are in a hurry to get to their destinations.

“It is better to be late than sorry” says Mampondo.
