23 August: Randfontein child porn manufacturer busted

A 66-year-old man was arrested late last night (22 August) in Hillside, Randfontein, on charges of the possession and manufacture of child pornography.

The suspect, according to a source, preyed mostly on young children from the surrounding community.

No other details are available at this point, but the Herald has posed questions to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson, Captain Appel Ernst, who has promised to share more information on the case as soon as it becomes available.

This follows hot on the heels of the apparent release on parole of self confessed and convicted Randfontein peadophile, Thys Taljaard, barely a year after he was found guilty and sentenced to three years behind bars.

The Herald has, despite numerous attempts, not been able to get confirmation from the Justice Department, or from Correctional Services that Taljaard has indeed been paroled.
