Stray dogs terrorizing the community of Venterpost
I saw at least five dogs chewing on my birds.
Five vicious stray dogs are roaming the streets and terrorizing the community of Venterspost.
According to reports received from residents in the area, people are even afraid to take a walk to local shops for fear of being attacked.
One residents who has suffered a substantial loss because of the dogs, is Johannes Britz, who says that the dogs attacked and killed 25 birds kept in a cage on his property.
“I was woken up by the sounds of dogs barking in the early hours of the morning,” says Britz.
“I went outside to investigate and saw at least five dogs chewing on my birds.
“I immediately chased them away.
“I went to check on my birds and only four of them were alive. The rest died in the attack
“Although this saddens me, I am more concerned about the safety of the people living in this area.
“It is only a matter of time before these vicious dogs attack someone.”
Lucy Phillips from Randfontein SPCA has confirmed that the SPCA has received complaints with regards to the dogs.
“These are wild dogs and clearly they will run away once we approach them.
“We have advised the man to actually entice the dogs with food and get them in an enclosed space like in his yard.
“Then he can call us to collect them,” says Phillips.
