A Helikon Park man was seriously wounded when he was shot in the head in his driveway on the corner of Bokmakierie Street and Condor Road on 13 August.

The man and with his wife had just returned from the bank where they withdrew a large amount of money when the incident occurred.

It is understood that they were followed by five men who were traveling a grey Opel Corsa.

The man, who was in the passenger seat, apparently got out of the vehicle at the gate to retrieve their copy of the Randfontein/ Westonaria Herald from the post box while his wife parked the car in the yard, when he was confronted by the suspects and shot in his forehead.

According to a journalist on the scene a large blood stain and pieces of flesh lay in the driveway while paramedics tried to save the life of the man.

A chopper was called out to the scene and the man was transported to Milpark Hospital, where he is, according to reports, fighting for his life.

Officials at the scene forced a Herald journalist to delete photos taken of the crime scene.

The suspects managed to flee from the scene.
