Local man shot in the back by robbers

A Randfontein man was shot in the back and robbed while walking down the road.

Police officer in Randfontein received a call out to the scene of an apparent mob justice incident on 21 July, but when they arrived, they found that it was actually the scene of an armed robbery.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson, Captain Appel Ernst, police investigatedthe incident and came accross a seriously wounded 43-year-old man in the Mohlakeng Clinic.

The man apparently told police officers that he was walking along Ngonyela Street when he was shot in the back by an unknown assailant.

He was then robbed of cash and cellular telephone vouchers which he was carrying at the time.

The injured man was taken to a local hospital where he is still receiving treatment.

“The investigating officer, Warrant Officer Karen Nel will appreciate any information that might assist her in tracing the suspects,” says Ernst.
