Rainbow Daycare celebrates Madiba Day

Lafarge Randfontein gives back to the community by spending their 67-minutes of Madiba Day with the children at Rainbow Daycare Centre.

With a spirit of giving surrounding Madiba Day, Lafarge Randfontein branch decided to give their 67 minutes of Madiba Day to the children at Rainbow Daycare Centre.

During the Lafarge team’s visit to the centre, they made it their mission not to only give material articles but rather their time.

According to the Office Manager from Lafarge, Luna van Dyk, they visited the centre in order to spend some quality time with the children as the majority of people only drop articles and then leave.

“It was a great honour for us to share this day with the children from Rainbow Daycare. It is a fact that the youth are tomorrow’s leaders and the children at the centre will not have that opportunity, therefore it was great to get to know these children and give them our time,” says Luna.

According to the Lafarge plant manager, Lesego Phiri, they visited the centre in order to enrich these children’s lives. She adds that they will also continue to work hand in hand with the centre in the future.

The project manager of Rainbow Daycare Centre, Tatum Solomons, added that it was a great pleasure to have these six women from Lafarge at the centre.

“We are truly grateful that there are so many people who find it rewarding to help the centre in any way possible. All of us at Rainbow Daycare Centre thanks Lesego Phiri, Zipho Maoka, Gobakwe Maema, Tshidi Shikoane, Lydia Sehletsi and Luna van Dyk for giving their 67 minutes of Madiba Day to Rainbow Daycare,” says Tatum.
