Mohlakeng business robbed

A popular Mohlakeng supermarket was robbed at gunpoint.

A popular supermarket in Thebenare Street, Mohlakeng was robbed on 16 July.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson, Captain Appel Ernst, the 32-year-old shopkeeper was outside the shop when he was grabbed and pulled back into the shop by an unknown man.

Five more men, three brandishing firearms, appeared and ordered customers who were in the shop at the time to take what they want and leave.

After the customers had left, the men ransacked the shop and took numerous items, including cigarettes and cellular telephones from the shelves.

The robbers also managed to take a substantial amount of cash before fleeing from the scene in a white Toyota Quantum minibus.

Ernst says that no shots were fired and no serious injuries were sustained during the ordeal.

“The investigating officer, Warrant Officer Thabiso Duiker will appreciate any information that might assist him in the investigation. He can be reached on 011 278 8100,” says Ernst.
