Randfontein police arrested a 16-year-old Mohlakeng boy for rape on 15 July.
The boy is alleged to have raped the 13-year old daughter of a neighbour on 9 July.
According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson, Captain Appel Ernst, the girl’s mother left the children at home and went to work.
Upon her return from work, she apparently noticed that her 13-year-old daughter was unwell.
The mother apparently spoke to the child and the child confided in her that she had been raped by the boy, who lives a few houses away.
The girl was immediately taken to hospital for treatment and a case of rape was opened at the Randfontein SAPS.
The boy made his first appearance in the Randfontein Magistrates’ Court of 16 July.
