A 40-year old man was arrested for the rape of a seven year old girl in Mohlakeng on 17 June.
The case was opened at the Randfontein police station by a female relative of the young girl, who told police that the seven year old girl informed her that she was assaulted during the night.
“The complainant investigated the allegations and found that other persons saw the little girl in the man’s company,” says Randfontein SAPS spokesperson, Captain Appel Ernst.
“The victim was taken to a local hospital where she received medical treatment and a case of rape was opened.
The case was postponed to 25 June and the man is expected to apply for bail.
The investigating officer is Warrant Officer Thomas Bvuma of the Family violence, Child protection, and Sexual offenses Unit in Krugersdorp.
