Randfontein residents will soon enjoy another clinic of their own as a new clinic is currently under construction and is set to open its doors in the near future.

The clinic will be situated on Bailey Street in Rangate

Currently, there are two clinics in town and others in Mohlakeng and other areas as well however the facilities are too small to service the all residents of Randfontein.

DAWard 4 Councilor Sina Erasmus says that residents of over six wards in Randfontein make use of the current Randgate clinic.

She adds that the new clinic will come as a relief to clinic staff but most importantly, to residents.

Randgate clinic nurse, Hazel Makgabo says that they welcome the clinic.

“Currently we are working in a facility that is too small.

“We take about three to four patients for consultation in one room. It is not an ideal situation but what else can we do?

“There really is no privacy here” says Makgabo.

She adds that people are often quick to report them to the Department of Health, failing to understand the fact that they are doing their best.

According to Erasmus, it took her approximately nine years to get the Gauteng Department of Health to start on the project.

“Despite the time taken to deliver, we appreciate the thought behind the efforts and I am sure I speak for everyone when I say that we are excited about the new clinic.
