A 32-year old woman was robbed of her cellular phone while walking down the road in Greenhills on 4 June.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson, Captain Appel Ernst, the woman was walking along the road at approximately 7.40am when a red VW Golf stopped next to her.

The driver of the vehicle produced a firearm at the woman and demanded that she hand over her cellular phone, before driving off again.

Ernst has issued a warning to pedestrians to be careful, especially while using their cellphones.

“It is preferable that cellular phones and other valuables be kept out of sight,” says Ernst.
