Police report that two seperate incident have occurred where motorists carrying substantial amount of cash, were robbed in Aureus recently.

The first incident occurred on 31 may, when a 45-year old male was pulled over by two suspects in a blue VW Golf.

The two occupants of the vehicle approached the driver asked to see his driver’s licence.

They then produced a firearm and searched both the driver and his car at gunpoint.

The suspects managed to escape with a substantial amount of cash.

The second incident occurred on 5 June at approximately 1.15pm, when a 32-year old woman was pulled over by a double cab bakkie.

She was in possession of a substantial amount of cash, since she was on her way to pay for a funeral.

The occupants robbed the woman of all her money before speeding away.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson, Captain Appel Ernst, nho shots were fired and no injuries were sustained during either of the incidents.

The SAPS Randfontein has issued a warning to people who withdraw large amounts of money from the banking institutions in town.

“Please be extra careful and make syre that you are not being followed from the bank, says Ernst.

“Rather try to transfer money electronically as it is much safer and much quicker.”
