Randfontein residents overcharged for prepaid electricity

Everyone must realise that it will have an enormous impact on their finances when another 7 per cent increase is added on top of the illegal increase of almost 2.5 per cent.

With regards to reports that pre-paid electricity subscribers in Randfontein were overcharged:

The local municiality will have to explain their actions without any delay and excuses and also take note that a class action will be brought against them.

Afriforum together with SAMWU and local attorneys will be approached to assist the public because we want a refund.
South African Municipal Workers Union will be approached because their members would have been affected as well.

In the meantime, I am also writing to NERSA to investigate the matter.

The public should get involved here and come forward.

Everyone must realise that it will have an enormous impact on their finances when another 7 per cent increase is added on top of the illegal increase of almost 2.5 per cent.

The Randfontein Municipality must know that they do not have the last say in the matter and I see this as a matter of theft.

There is more than enough abuse of our funds already and like everywhere else in our country, mismanagement of funds and theft is the name of the game.

We are fed up and the Randfontein Municipality must get its act together.

Enough is enough.
