Two reaction officers from EPR security managed to stop two thieves in their tracks in the early hours of the morning on 20 June in Greenhills.

Reaction officer Collin Breedt and Charl Kruger were patrolling the area when they spotted two men hiding behind the bushes on the side of the road.

According to EPR operations manager Mac van Zyl, the officers left nothing to chance and reacted quickly to their suspicions.

“Our reaction officers immediately cornered them to prevent any chances of them getting away.

“They proceeded to ask them a few questions and then searched their bag.

“There, they found copper house number signs that the men were unable to account for.

“Further investigation at the scene led to our officers discovering that the signs belonged to one of the houses in the vicinity,” says van Zyl.

He adds that police officers were immediately called to the scene and the men arrested.

He warns that such crimes will increase if not reported.

“The items might not be of much value, but this fuels the market for stolen copper, which is a major problem country wide.”
