An 18-year-old girl was attacked and raped while walking along a footpath in a veld in Mohlakeng.
The incident occurred on 20 July at approximately 1.45pm.
According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson, Captain Appel Ernst, the girl was attacked from behind while walking through the veld, and dragged at gunpoint into thick bushes.
The suspect then raped the girl and fled on foot.
She managed to get to the nearest police station and reported the matter.
The SAPS unit for Family violence, Sexual offences and Child Abuse (FCS) is investigating the matter and the investigating officer, Sergeant TJ Nkosi can be contacted on 011 951 1111 with any information pertaining to the incident.
