Six dogs in need of donations at Animal Aid Warriors

Animal Aid Warriors require donations to medically treat six dogs.

Animal Aid Warriors is requesting assistance from kind dog lovers in the community willing to donate to six dogs in need of medical treatment.

Founder and director Naomi de Beer told the Randfontein Herald they are assisting one Yorkshire terrier, two boerboel crosses and three mixed breeds.

This comes after families called Animal Aid Warriors to assist their dogs with sterilisation, vaccinations and deworming.

One of the dogs, known as Bela, was suffering from a cherry eye. Bela has already undergone surgery and according to Naomi, her condition is improving by the day. However, she is still at Kameelstreet Animal Hospital.

Chocolate is around one and a half years old. He received a grooming from Tisha’s Dog Parlour.

Naomi emphasised that if they had not stepped in when they did, Bela would have lost her eye.

Naomi is concerned about the vet fees surrounding the treatment for the six dogs, claiming that it is going to cost them around R6 150 to sterilise, vaccinate and deworm all six dogs, along with Bela’s surgery. Thereafter, according to Naomi, it will cost another R4 000 to keep the dogs’ vaccinations up to date.

Bela is currently five months old.

Naomi claimed that the owners of all six dogs live inside one home. She added that the family members do odd jobs to cover some of their expenses. The owners make sure that they have enough money to buy food for all of the dogs. Besides the treatment the dogs are already scheduled for, Naomi stated that they were in good condition.

Jock is sterilised but he needs vaccinating and deworming.

She urges the community to not judge the owners due to their underprivileged condition.

“Covid has hit many families hard. These families have lost everything, but they decided to not just abandon their animals. They made a plan to ensure that the dogs get the treatments they needed,” Naomi explained.

Debe is about two years old.

She advised those who struggle to afford the right medical care for their animals, that there are a lot of organisations like hers who are willing to help. She encourages the less fortunate to reach out to these organisations and not feel ashamed.

Baby has been pregnant four times. Naomi said that she wants to sterilise Baby first.

If anyone can donate towards sterilising, vaccinating and deworming these dogs, contact Animal Aid Warriors on 079 834 3957.
