Brace yourselves! Month-long water maintenance to come

Multiple areas in Rand West City will be affected after Rand Water announced plans to embark on extensive proactive maintenance.

Rand Water’s infrastructure will be undergoing extensive maintenance, resulting in a decrease in pumping on certain days.

The maintenance process will commence on June 22 and will conclude by July 29.

According to Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa, the maintenance will ensure the perseverance of the infrastructure, reducing maintenance costs in the long term.

He said Rand Water confirmed that during this process, they will conduct proactive (planned) and unplanned maintenance. Their statement declares that proactive maintenance is aimed at preserving the quality and lifespan of the water infrastructure.

“Rand Water has decided to schedule the maintenance during the winter season due to the low demand for water usage. From June 24 to 27, the Eikenhof system will be pumping at 50% for eight hours and 67% for the remaining 64 hours. From June 26 to July 13, the Eikenhof system will be pumping at 83%. This will affect Rand West City and neighbouring Mogale City.”

Montshiwa added that during the reduced water usage, municipal water tankers will provide water to residents.
