Mixed fortunes for Randgate boxers at Gauteng Development Tournament
Randgate Boxing Club experienced mixed fortunes when they hosted the Gauteng Development Tournament recently.
The Randgate Boxing Club hosted a nail-biting Gauteng Development Tournament where two of its athletes went head-to-head against other competitors from various boxing clubs.
Janie Smit (17) won the second round with a striking knockout against his opponent from Vikings Boxing Club while Daniël Wilken (18) lost his bout with an opponent from Kempton Park Boxing Club in the second round.
Their coach, Leon Consalves, stated that both boxers did exceptionally well on the day.
“The boxing tournament was a massive success thanks to our boxers, sponsors and the residents who attended. We also want to thank all the boxing clubs who competed in the tournament,” Leon said.
Further, Keenan and Donell Kloupas will be embarking on the Youth and Elite Championships.
“The club wishes them all the best and great success,” Leon added.
