Delivery van hijacked

A Delivery van was hijacked underway to Toekomsrus.

A furniture delivery van was hijacked while underway to make a delivery in Toekomsrus on 4 July.

According to Randfontein SAPS spokesperson, Captain Appel Ernst, the 47-year-old driver and another employee was on the way to Toekomsrus when they heard the covering canvas on the back of the van make a noise.

They pulled over to investigate and was approached by a man, who produced a firearm and forced them back into the vehicle.

The suspect drove with them for a while before he stopped and forced them into the back of another vehicle.

The two were eventually dropped off in Johannesburg.

The suspects drove off with the delivery vehicle which was transporting numerous items of furniture as well as cash and cellular telephones.

The vehicle, a white Toyota Hilux with registration number WSC 162 GP, has still not been recovered.

“Any person with information regarding this incident is requested to contact the investigating officer, Warrant officer JG Masisi at the Protea Glenn VISS unit on 011 309 6000,” says Ernst.
