Mohlakeng Clinic to operate 24 hours

A clinic in Mohlakeng recently implemented 24-hour doctor coverage which offers full-time doctor availability.

The Mohlakeng Community Health Centre (CHC) has taken steps to improve its patient experience by implementing 24-hour doctor coverage which has been effective from February 1.

This is according to a statement issued by West Rand District Health Services spokesperson Nomagugu Hloma, who stated that the Mohlakeng CHC operates 24 hours daily while catering to a variety of patient populations.

The catering includes maternal and child health, chronic and acute care, Voluntary Medical Male Circumcision and emergency services.

In June 2022, the clinic launched a coverage system to focus on weekends from 08:00 to 16:00. The clinic currently expanded the doctor coverage and transitioned into full-time availability.

On February 1, the doctor coverage officially commenced, aiming to enhance patient care by stabilisation and management of emergencies before referring patients to institutions of higher care. The doctor coverage also aspires to lower the mortality rate in the facility.

“Mohlakeng CHC remains committed to providing quality healthcare to the community of Mohlakeng. The implementation of 24-hour doctor coverage reflects a proactive step towards addressing critical healthcare needs and improving patient experience of care,” the statement stated.
