New deputy mayor and council speaker elected

The municipality also announced the vacancy position of a Chief Financial Officer after Gerald Mnisi left for Tshwane.

Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) has elected a new deputy executive mayor and a council speaker into office.

This comes after William Matsheke was recently appointed mayor.

News of this was released in a statement compiled by the municipality which also declared the vacant position of a Chief Financial Officer (CFO) who left RWCLM for Tshwane.

“The appointment of Gerald Mnisi in Tshwane resulted in the vacancy of a CFO being declared in our municipality. On the position of deputy executive mayor, the council unanimously elected councillor Nontombi Molatlhegi to fill the post. Councillor Selina Moumakwe on the other hand was elected unopposed as council speaker,” read the statement.

The statement also noted that Matsheke congratulated the two councillors on their new positions and hoped that their election into their respective positions would strengthen the functionality of the council and its ability to deliver quality services.
