#BlackFriday losing its touch?

The Randfontein Herald visited a local mall on the morning of November 24 to get a glimpse of whether or not people were queuing up and looking forward to the deals in store.

Black Friday has seemingly lost its touch as major retailers throughout the country including Randfontein were not flooded with customers as usually expected.

This was evident when the Randfontein Herald visited a local mall on the morning of November 24 to get a glimpse of whether or not people were queuing up and looking forward to the deals in store.

Resident Lesego Monkwane said she woke up extremely early to buy her favourite items.

“I’m glad I went this early as I was eyeing a few items for myself and my family. Although I have a few shops to go to, I’m just glad that the shops aren’t packed,” said Monkwane.

Another resident Khensani Makamu doesn’t believe in the concept of Black Friday.

“I just came to the mall to get my normal weekly essentials for my family and I’m not necessarily shopping for Black Friday. I believe that the concept is a scam as some retailers up their prices before Black Friday and lower them towards the day. This is to make us think that we are saving in our purchases when in fact we are not,” said Makamu.
