Two arrested in foiled burglary

One of the arrested suspects was identified as a possible suspect that is wanted in connection with a rape case that occurred in July.

Two suspects were caught and handed over to the Randfontein police following an attempted burglary incident at Blesbok Street in Greenhills.

This is word from Mapogo A Mathamaga operations manager Danie Vermeulen, who said that the incident occurred on September 12.

“The Mampogo A Mathamaga control room received a panic signal from a client’s property on Blesbok Street in Greenhills and our officers rushed to the place. Upon arrival, the armed reaction officers made contact with the client who informed them that two suspects had lifted the main gate off the rail and attempted to enter the property.

“It was during this time that the reaction officers spotted the suspects in a neighbouring street and arrested them,” said Vermeulen.

He added that upon returning to the client’s house with the suspects, one of them was identified as a possible suspect that is wanted in connection with a rape case that occurred in July.

Both suspects were handed over to the police.

Meanwhile, in a separate incident, the security company also recorded a case of an attempted business burglary on Baily Street in Randgate on September 15.

It is believed that the perpetrators forced open the burglar bars and attempted to enter the business. They fled when the alarm went off.
