School specialising in mining coming to Mohlakeng

The 26th School of Specialisation and the third to specialise in mining will be launched in Mohlakeng on August 31.

Gauteng Education MEC Matome Chiloane will launch Phahama Maths, Science, and ICT School of Specialisation with a focus on mining in Mohlakeng on August 31.

The launch will take place at about noon.

According to Gauteng Department of Education spokesperson Steve Mabona, the Schools of Specialisation initiative is designed to align educational offerings with the skill demands of learners, corresponding to the specific Economic Development Corridor within which they are situated.

He said these schools receive comprehensive support to ensure that learners acquire pertinent skills that will equip them for higher education, professional roles within companies, or entrepreneurial pursuits.

“This will be the 26th School of Specialisation launched in Gauteng, the third one to specialise in mining, and also one that draws us closer to achieving our goal of having 35 such schools,” said Mabona.
