School kids find missing dog Lalli

Dog owner praises the Randfontein community, Randfontein Herald, and school kids for joining hands to help find Lalli who is now safe and sound.

Lalli, a Maltese poodle, that went missing during a suspected burglary in Greenhills recently, has been found.

The good news was confirmed by the dog’s owner Ursilla Kruger who said Lalli was found on August 17. The pooch was missing for six days.

The Herald recently published an article regarding Lalli’s disappearance which gained traction on social media and different community groups.

At the time, Kruger had offered a R2 000 reward to anyone who may be able to find Lalli.

Speaking to the Herald, Kruger said a lot of people reached out to her and offered to help look for the dog, after hearing of the news.

“My husband and I had been looking for Lalli for some time and had asked Randfontein Primary School to put up a poster at their premises. On August 17, just before 18:00, two young boys and their sister called and informed me that they had spotted Lalli roaming around near the school premises. My husband and I immediately rushed over. We then spotted Lalli and tried chasing after her.

“She was so scared and went into the veld behind the school where we found her hiding near a drain pipe,” added Kruger.

True to her word, Kruger gave the R2 000 reward to the three children who will split it among themselves.

She also gave them a few PlayStation games as an extra token of appreciation.

“I’m so happy that we were able to find Lalli. She was so scared and dirty at the time but she is home now and in safe hands. My husband and I are also thankful to those children, the community, and the Herald for their help,” said Kruger.

She also appreciates the support she received from residents who called in and checked up on her and offered to help look for Lalli.
