LETTER: Help! Randgate Library area a full-blown party place
Resident makes a desperate plea to government as well as the men and women in blue to step in and do something about the partying at Randgate Public Library's parking area.

For the past few months, it’s been getting worse. There is no more peace and quiet but more and more trash and beer bottles standing around.
This is the site of Randgate Library’s parking area. It is being used as an open-air shebeen, drug dealing, braai and party place. The wall is also being used as a public toilet.
When you come home and close the gate, these people scream stuff to you (things that they want to do to you).
Our kids are busy with exams and the noise levels that run from 07:00 to 21:00 or later, don’t help much. When you call the police, their words are ‘they are allowed to’ as it’s a public space. This is not a park area, it’s a residential area. Whenever the police come out, these people will only go louder and scream ‘voetsek’!
Is this fair for the surrounding residents?
I want to put this out and ask the head of traffic, head of health and safety, head of Rand West if this was your house, would you allow this to happen? What would you do to bring peace and quiet again to your home? Would you allow them to use your wall and pavement as a public toilet? Would you feel safe?
We all have our rights! We pay our levies and taxes. Why can’t we be helped by the government or police?
Do our ‘heads of departments’ have enough courage to help their residents? Or do you only pocket our tax money and leave us for dead?
