Gauteng boxers go head to head in Randgate
The Gauteng Development Boxing Tournament will head to Randgate today (July 22), and the public is invited to support Randgate Boxing Club.
Developing boxers from across the province will descend on Randfontein today (July 22) to show what they are made of in the Gauteng Development Tournament.
Weigh-in takes place between 07:00 and 09:00 while the boxing action commences at noon. The venue is Randgate Boxing Club.
According to the head coach at the Randgate Boxing Club, Willie Gonsalves, the aim of the tournament is to develop boxers within the province and give them exposure against other districts.
He added everyone is welcome to come and watch the boxing for the day. Entry is free.
“There is going to be very good boxing with some of our elite and youth boxers that were in action at the SA Championships recently. This tournament gets held every month within one of the districts across Gauteng. Now it is our turn.
“It will be great if the community of Randfontein can support us because we need to look after our children boys and girls so that they don’t fall into bad habits such as drugs alcohol and smoking.”
