Born to sing gospel

Gospel singer talks about how she grew closer to gospel soon after a serious car crash.

Resident Keimametse Mabaso, aka Kim, is a talented female singer who is famously known for entertaining crowds in and around town.

Although she hails from the North West, Keimametse moved to Gauteng in the 90s to pursue her dream career – music.

She currently resides in Kocksoord and has been for eight years. She specialises in gospel music and has already shared a stage with some of the biggest names in the entertainment industry.

Speaking to the Randfontein Herald, Keimametse said her love for praise and worship grew massively after she was involved in a horrific car crash.

“This pushed me closer to God and that’s when my love for gospel music grew immensely. With my knowledge and passion for music and the corporate world, my husband and I started our own recording company and that’s where I did my first single Deliver me, which was released in 2019.

“This was followed by another song, Ke ka lebala jwang and another song, Charged. I also managed to finish my album, Agape, in 2021 which essentially means the love of God and it has hit singles such as N1 Weeh, Khanimambo, Tlong reyeng and Xikwembu xa matimba,” she said.

Keimametse has collaborated with the likes of the Tsonga prince, Henny C and Sipho Ngwenya in two of her 11 songs and also shared the stage with award-winning artists Tau Sebata, Pleasure tsa manyalo and Rasta Nkhushu at the Umanji Legacy Foundation charity event.
