Elsie Kitching funeral: Family and friends pay final respects

People spoke about Kitching's life and the impact she had in the community of Randfontein.

Friends and family as well as Randfontein residents came out in their numbers to pay their final respects to the late Elsie Kitching.

This was at the NG Kerk in Randpoort on July 7 where people spoke about Kitching’s life and the impact she had in the community of Randfontein.

Kitchen served as mayor for one term of the then Randfontein Local Municipality and was also a member of the council.

Friends and family of the late Elsie Kitching, as well as residents, came out in their numbers to pay their final respects at the NG Kerk in Randpoort.

She was born on March 20, 1933, in Wheatlands. In the 70s and 80s her husband, Jimmy Kitching, served as mayor for three terms. She also served in the municipality’s council for five years. The Kitchings were instrumental in the growth of the Friendship Haven Old Age Home and were involved in a lot of charity work too.

Friends and family of the late Elsie Kitching, as well as residents, came out in their numbers to pay their final respects at the NG Kerk in Randpoort.

They also owned a spares shop which has since been bought by Midas. This business was instrumental in providing employment opportunities for locals in the town. The two had no children of their own.
