School and two businesses targeted in six days

At least three incidents of break-ins and theft were reported across Rand West City last week according to Mapogo.

Mapogo A Mathamaga Security in Rand West City revealed three break-ins and four crime incidents in total this past week. Two of the targets were businesses and the third was a school.

The security company’s operations manager Danie Vermeulen said this is according to their latest crime report for the period from June 26 to July 1.

During the most recent break-in at a business in Tulbagh Street, Culemborgpark, Vermeulen said at about 11:01 on July 1, criminals gained entry by forcing open a back door leading onto the premises.

“The criminal(s) then went on to steal two TVs, one monitor, one point of sale machine, one mixer, one JBL speaker, and two-speed point machines.”

Four days earlier, Mapogo also responded to a business break-in and theft in Ventersdorp Road, Vogelstruisfontein.

At about 13;06, criminals gained entry by forcing open an office door, office window, and burglar bars. They then went on to steal five cases of alcohol,” Vermeulen confirmed.

He added a day earlier, at about 07:31 on June 26, they responded to another break-in, this time at a school on Main Reef Road.

“Criminals gained entry by cutting the electric fence and jumping over the perimeter wall. They then proceeded to force open the burglar bars of a classroom and went on to steal one overhead projector.”

The other crime reported involved trespassing and theft in Kenneth Avenue, Greenhills on June 29 where criminals gained entry to a premises by jumping over the perimeter wall and went on to steal two solar flood lights.
