NPO blesses 30 families and members of an old age home

At least 30 families were given blankets, clothes and food hampers while members of the Wheatlands Old Age Home were also spoiled thanks to a local NPO.

With winter in full swing, Kairos Helpers, a local NPO decided to spread some love and cheer by helping 30 families in need with their winter soup kitchen and charity drive on June 10.

One of the directors Veronica Ighoraye, said they identified 30 families in need from the Dan Tloome community. They also went to Wheatlands Old Age Home to spoil the elderly. She explained the 30 families were given blankets, clothes and food hampers. They also received soup and bread during the event.

During their visit to the old age home, they then handed out adult diapers and party packs filled to the brim with snacks for them to enjoy.

The purpose of our organisation is to reach out to the less fortunate. We are Christians and our faith exhorts us to help the needy and bless others through giving.”

She explained to them it was an honor to be able to spread hope, show love and encourage the needy that they aren’t alone or forgotten.

“It was also encouraging to us that whatever we have, whether we think is a little or a lot, it can make a big difference in someone else’s life. We shouldn’t take anything for granted.”

Veronica said it was a very humbling, yet fulfilling experience and they can’t wait to do more.
