Rappies hosts major mini-netball tournament

Ten schools from all over the West Rand came together at Laerskool Rapportryer to participate in the PEP mini-netball tournament.

By empowering young girls in sports, it becomes essential for their physical and mental health.

Recognising this crucial need, PEP and South African Schools Netball (SASN) hosted a mini-netball competition on May 30 at Laerskool Rapportryer, attracting over 240 girls.

PEP’s head of brand and innovation, Tara Swanson-Pauw, said they understand that developing young girls in sports requires a commitment to providing access to appropriate equipment and facilities, as well as creating a safe and supportive environment for them to participate in.

She added the newly formed partnership between PEP and SASN enhanced girls’ netball at a critical foundation phase.

Through mini-netball, young girls have an opportunity to stand proudly and aim high which subsequently boosts their self-esteem.”

According to Tara, mini-netball also teaches the youth the skills of the sport.

“We want them to grow into the best version of themselves. It is essential for their personal development.”

Ten schools participated in the event, including Avantè Primary School, Laerskool Jongspan, Toekomsrus Primary School, Laerskool Ebenhaeser, Curro Krugersdorp, Laerskool Hekpoort, Monument Primary, Glenharvie Combined, Laerskool Muldersdrif and Krugersdorp Town School.
