Help a fellow student and donate your textbooks

The books will help needy students who cannot afford to buy their own textbooks.

The Uplifted Life organisation, which is a student society, wants to make a difference in the lives of fellow varsity students, and is thus calling on the community to donate books that will go towards those who cannot afford to purchase their own.

The non-government organisation’s initiative began on May 1 and will run until the end of June and comes after the organisation realised a need for textbooks in different institutions.

Speaking to the Randfontein Herald, FJL Wells Primary School teacher and member of the society, Sindisiwe Mthembu, said, “We want to reach out to those in varsity and especially the less privileged. Textbooks are often expensive and many cannot afford them. As a result, we are calling on graduates who have already secured employment and do not need their textbooks to make this meaningful donation.

We ask that they do not keep the books to collect dust or throw them away, as they can be of use to someone else,” said Sindisiwe.

She added that they are also in need of literacy books they can take to learners in high school spaces and perhaps primary schools as well to enhance their literally levels.

To make a donation, Sindisiwe can be contacted on 078 347 3165.
