Rising football star gunning for Kaizer Chiefs

Tshwetso Motlashuping-Sebuaseng, a Grade 7 learner at FJL Wells Primary School recently bagged nine medals and awarded six certificates as well as three trophies for soccer.

Mohlakeng’s very own rising football star Tshwetso Motlashuping-Sebuaseng is making a name for himself in soccer circles.

With trophies standing all over the place and a bunch of medals around his neck, the 13-year-old is clearly on track to fulfill his dream of representing a big-name club, Kaizer Chiefs FC, also known as Amakhosi in the future.

Born and bred in Homelake, the Grade 7 learner at FJL Wells Primary School started playing football at the age of 7.

He plays for the school’s soccer team as well as the Stitch United Soccer Club in Mohlakeng.

Speaking to the Herald in an interview, the shy and humble boy said, “I started playing football at a very young age and received a lot of support from both my parents ever since, especially my father. He would always push me to do better all the time. I’m glad I’ve reached such heights at my age.”

Although a youngster with few words, his talent does the talking as he recently bagged nine medals, and was awarded six certificates as well as three trophies.

All of these recognise his talent and his discipline in the sporting code. Locally, Tshwetso looks up to Kaizer Chiefs’ Mduduzi Shabalala and Lionel Messi internationally.

The Herald also had the opportunity of speaking to his parents Rachel and Joel Sebuaseng who both said that they love and support their son.

His mom Rachel said she too used to play soccer back in the day.

“I’m so happy he has done so well for himself. I also used to play football myself, so this makes me happy. I’d love to see him prosper in the sporting code and get under a good team. I want him to further his dream and I’d love to see him play international football,” said his mother, and his father also concurred to this.
