Man arrested for falsifying hijacking

The Randfontein Police arrested a man for perjury after he falsely opened a case of hijacking in Kocksoord.

A man has been arrested and will face the full might of the law after he lied about being hijacked on the R559 in Kocksoord last Thursday, May 11.

This is according to Randfontein Police spokesperson Sergeant Carmen Hendricks who said that the suspect gave his car to a person in Lesotho, as a form of payment for a debt that he had.

“The victim opened a case of hijacking at about 06:00 on Thursday, May 11 saying he was on the R559 in Kocksoord when the incident occurred. He alleged that he stopped his car at the stop sign next to Highway Spar and another vehicle came and stopped in front of him. He further alleged that it was during this time that an unknown male came to him, opened the driver’s door, and held him at gunpoint.
