Stolen car in Potch found in Westonaria, 23-year-old arrested

'It is believed that the vehicle was stolen in Potchefstroom and a case docket was already opened' – Westonaria Police.

A 23-year-old man was arrested after he was found in possession of a stolen vehicle.

This is according to Westonaria Police spokesperson Warrant Officer Audrey Sefara who said the incident occurred at about 14:00 on Monday, May 1.

“It is alleged that our K9 unit members received a complaint of a stolen vehicle parked around Salter Street in Westonaria. They responded to the complaint and upon arrival found a red Audi A3 parked near a known address number.

“On further investigation, the vehicle turned out to be stolen in Potchefstroom and a case docket was already opened,” said Sefara.

She added that the suspect, who was in possession of the vehicle, was arrested by the Westonaria Police. The vehicle was impounded.

Acting Westonaria Police Station Commander Lieutenant Joyce Tuuba commended the members for their hard work and dedication.
