RCA learners dress up as favourite book characters

Staff and learners of Randfontein Christian Academy dressed up as their favourite characters for World Book Day.

Learners and staff of Randfontein Christian Academy (RCA) recently switched things up a bit by dressing up as their favourite book character.

The aim was to celebrate World Book Day which was observed on April 23.

The school’s vice principal Vanessa Dreyer said the teachers also loved the ‘dress up idea’ and decided to join in on the fun.

“It was really interesting to see,” said Vanessa.

She added the learners also had to write a short speech and read it out in class explaining why they chose the character they did.

“Unfortunately, so much stuff has gone digital, so we are trying to let our children read books as much as possible. By doing that we hoped to encourage the love of reading and encourage our children to keep on reading,” said Vanessa.

She added that it was important for them as a school to show their learners that the majority of their favourite characters that they see on TV are from books.
