Man critical after crashing car into tree and fence

Two people were injured, one of them critically when they crashed into a tree and fence in Carletonville over the long weekend.

A 31-year-old man sustained critical injuries while a woman, believed to be in her late 20s, sustained moderate injuries only after their vehicle collided with a tree and fence on Onyx Drive, Carletonville on Saturday night, April 29.

ER24 spokesperson Russel Meiring said paramedics were on the scene at about 18:48 along with the fire department, police, and Gauteng Provincial Government (GPG).

“The male driver was found entrapped in the light-motor-vehicle and a critical condition. The Fire Department used the Jaws of Life to extract him before he was treated and transported to Carletonville Hospital for further care.”

He stated the female passenger was found outside the vehicle, having self-extricated – she had been moderately injured in the incident. The patient was treated and transported by Gauteng Provincial to Carletonville Hospital as well.

“The police were on the scene for further investigations.”
