Speaking to the Herald in an interview, West View Clinic coordinator Sarah Mokgorong said they wanted to create some awareness regarding substance abuse and alcohol as well as the effects that are associated with these elements.

“The purpose of the event was to sensitise the community about substance abuse and alcohol abuse as well as tackle short- and long-term effects that come with indulging in these substances.

“We wanted to educate the youth, adults, and children about the dangers of substance abuse and alcohol and how these things affect your body and your life.

“We also wanted to alert people on the services that we offer that are aimed at assisting them free of charge, which is aimed at breaking the shackles of substance and alcohol abuse,” said Mokgorong.

She added that West View Clinic is a rehab center that helps members of the community who are hooked on drugs free of charge.

It is a non-profit organisation and they have in-patient and outpatient care. They also tackle the short-term and long-term effects brought by substance abuse.
