Two armed robberies just days apart

Mapogo revealed two armed robberies in Homelake and Greenhills just days apart.

Two suspects were arrested after an armed business robbery in Homelake in one of several serious incidents reported to Mapogo A Mathamaga Security in the Rand West City for the period Saturday, March 25 to Saturday, April 1.

The security company’s operations manager Danie Vermeulen explained the incident took place at 20:30 last Tuesday, March 28.

“Four suspects entered the shop and pointed firearms at staff. After robbing the staff, the suspects then fled the scene. Mapogo armed reaction units gave chase and arrested one suspect. CPF members arrested one more suspect. The suspects were handed over to the Randfontein police”.

Another armed business robbery took place on Friday, March 31 at 17:19 in Greenhills where two suspects entered a shop and proceeded to rob the shop owner of various items. No arrests were made.

Details about other incidents:

1. Saturday, March 25 at 08:00 – Break-in and theft, Park Street, Randfontein CBD

Suspects gained entry into a shop and stole an undisclosed number of cigarettes. No arrests were made.

2. Tuesday, March 28 at 04:41 – Break-in and theft, Arend Street, Helikonpark

Suspects gained entry by breaking the lock of the main gate and went on to steal one trailer. No arrests were made.

3. Wednesday, March 29 at 08:01 – Break-in and theft, Sutherland Street, Randfontein

Suspects gained entry into the property through the roof and went on to steal various items.

4. Friday, March 31 at 08:30 – Break-in and theft, Populier Street, Greenhills

Suspects gained entry into the premises by jumping over the precast wall and went to steal one lawnmower, one grinder, one drilling machine, and copper pipes. No arrests were made.

5. Saturday, April 1 at 20:41 – Break-in and theft, Populier Street, Greenhills

Suspects gained entry into the premises by jumping over the front perimeter wall and went on to force open the garage door and stole copper pipes and various other items. No arrests were made.
