Damaging winds, heavy downpours expected across Gauteng today

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) issued a yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms today, March 31.

Residents of Gauteng are in for a wet and cold last day of March.

The South African Weather Service (SAWS) has issued a yellow level 2 warning for severe thunderstorms with possible strong damaging winds, large amounts of small hail, and heavy downpours with could lead to localised flooding of roads and informal/ formal settlements today, March 31.

The storm is expected to hit Gauteng from noon until 23:00.

The SAWS added that impacts include localised flooding of low susceptible formal/ informal settlements and roads, large amounts of small hail, and excessive lightning causing damages to property, strong damaging winds, and localised damage to infrastructure, settlements, properties, and vehicles.
