Heavy rains leave destruction across Rand West City

Residents called in complaining about the extensive damage to the roads caused by the rain.

The heavy rainfall that hit parts of the Gauteng province including Randfontein in the West Rand yesterday (March 29), has left a tale of destruction.

This is evident in the information gathered from residents who called in – complaining about the extensive damage to the roads caused by the rain.

Point in case is Ten Acres resident Luckas van Vuuren, who shared images of some of the destruction to property in his area, including some of the peach trees on his farm.

“Yesterday’s rain was very scary, to say the least. A lot of us witnessed hail on our properties.

“The roads have been damaged very badly and the trees were also uprooted, to say the least.

“We were also left without electricity for some time after the powerlines were also damaged in the process.

“It’s quite a lot that happened yesterday and I can only imagine what other people in other areas were faced with,” said Van Vuuren.

He added that the heavy rain added to an already worsened state of municipal roads in Randfontein which are dilapidated and had resurfaced the little potholes that were fixed.
