Water supply restored in affected areas

'We engaged with Rand Water which said that their reservoirs were running low and this is what had caused the reduction of water to the municipal reservoirs' – municipality.

Residents from Glenharvie in Westonaria as well as other nearby affected areas can breathe a sigh of relief as their water supply issues have been resolved.

Rand West City Local Municipality (RWCLM) spokesperson Phillip Montshiwa confirmed to the Herald the good news which comes after many complaints from residents who had little to no water in some areas.

“The municipality had received complaints of water pressure loss, or in some instances a complete interruption of water supply. We then engaged with Rand Water at the time, which said that their reservoirs were running low, and this is what had caused the reduction of water to the municipal reservoirs. This has been resolved and the water supply is back to normal,” said Montshiwa.

He added that to mitigate the challenge, the municipality had availed water tankers to Glenharvie and other areas affected to ensure that residents do not go without the essential service.
